Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says he very concerned about the increase in road deaths in specific counties over the last year.
His comments come in the wake of figures released this week showing a rise in pedestrian deaths, as well as a spike in road deaths in Mayo, Galway and Cork since last year.
The Sinn Fein Transport spokesperson says we need to remember the families and communities affected by these deaths as well as the large numbers of people left with life-changing injuries.
Deputy Kenny says he's written to the Minister for Transport requesting an immediate investigation by the Road Safety Authority and his officials.
