A Longford Westmeath TD says a decision on the format of this year's Leaving Certificate is imminent.
Minister Robert Troy says the Education Minister is engaging with all stakeholders and is considering a number of options, including greater flexibility to the traditional exam.
He said while he acknowledges that students had disruption to learning during the year he believes predicted grades could have un-intending consequences such as inflated results and a shortage of college places.
However, speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Minister Troy said that Minister Norma Foley was listening to students and a decision would be forthcoming in the next number of days.
