A Roscommon TD believes claims that people with disabilities have been locked-down in their homes for the last 10 years.
Denis Naughten is amongst the Regional Group of TDs bringing forward a Dáil motion today, calling on the government to improve disability transport schemes.
They say a number of supports and grants have been withdrawn or closed to new applicants since 2013.
The Independent TD says new schemes need to be introduced if people with disabilities are to have any life outside their home:
'For the last decade that people with a disability have seen the transport services withdrawn. We were given a commitment 14 months ago that action would be taken and we seen very little action in that time. People with a disability are paying an additional 9,000 euro a year explicitly dealing with the costs of transport and mobility.'
