A local TD says a meeting has taken place with the Minister for Agriculture regarding supports for farmers hit by Storm Eowyn. Fine Gael TD Micheál Carrigy was speaking after €42,110 in Tillage and Horticulture payments were announced for 28 Longford farmers. A total of €32.4 million has been issued to farmers nationwide under the sector's support scheme as part of Budget 2025.
Tillage and horticulture farmers have been badly affected by last month's devastating storm and Deputy Carrigy says further financial supports have been discussed. He said Minister Martin Heydon would meet with Department officials to discuss measures:
