A local TD says findings from a new survey relating to back to school costs are startling. The 2024 Back to School survey from Barnardo's shows the average price of a secondary school uniform is 211 euro, for primary its 119. 76 per cent of parents say their schools don't offer affordable uniform options.
21 per cent of parents with a child in secondary say they had to take out a loan to pay for back to school costs, while 12 per cent of primary school parents do the same.
