Damage to homes and businesses caused in Sunday's freak tornado in Leitrim must be addressed by a rapid and joint approach by government agencies. That's the call from Sinn Fein's TD for Sligo and Leitrim, Martin Kenny, who has argued that clear timelines must be given for the supports. Speaking in the Dáil this morning, Deputy Kenny praised the work of Leitrim County Council and first responders, while also acknowledging the visit of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to the village on Monday.
The Sinn Fein TD highlighted the lack of ambulance services in the county, and that had a serious injury occurred, the nearest available ambulance was either in Sligo or Longford.
