A number of farmers inspected and cleared as part of the ACRES environmental scheme, are still waiting for payment two years on, according to a local TD. Independent Ireland TD Michael Fitzmaurice, says farmers signed up to the schemes in good faith, but they've been abandoned by the Government.
They've been told the problem's being caused by an IT system which can't tell if a farmer is clear or has a penalty. Deputy Fitzmaurice says the new Agriculture Minister needs to work on this issue as soon as they are appointed:
