A local TD says staffing issues at the MRI Unit in Midlands Regional Hospital have now been resolved. Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy says confusion arose due to recent communication regarding the HSE's pay and numbers strategy. The provision of MRI services at the hospital in Mullingar had hit an unexpected roadblock this week when management informed staff the unit would close its doors.
This was despite HSE approval for the recruitment of staff to operate the service. Deputy Troy said hospital management had received clarification this week that staff would be appointed to the unit. Speaking to Shannonside News he said the MRI service would now commence on a phased basis:
