Local teachers and carers express concern over changes to vaccine schedule

Local professional groups are expressing worry over the change to the vaccine roll out announced by the government on Tuesday

Family carers across the Shannonside region should be treated the same as essential medical staff when it comes to the vaccine rollout.

That's according to the Regional Manager for Family Carers Ireland, Caroline Poole, who says they provide an essential service to thousands of people across the country.

Yesterday's announcement of the easing of restrictions included the news that the vaccine rollout plan is to be re-organised, with distribution now being organised by age following the immunization of medical staff and the elderly.

Leitrim teacher and regional representative for the Teachers Union Of Ireland, Brendan Greene, is criticising the lack of consultation between unions and government, claiming teachers have been blindsided by the decision.
