Edgeworthstown in Longford has recorded one of the highest vacancy rates in the country according to new research.
The new report from mapping database GeoDirectory shows vacancy rates have begun to fall across the Shannonside region.
The results from GeoDirectory say the national commercial vacancy rate sat at almost 14 per cent nationally in June.
Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon have all seen vacancy rates fall over the last number of months, with Longford recording the lowest rate locally.
The commercial vacancy rate in Longford in June of this year was 14.4 percent, with Edgeworthstown recording the second highest level in the country when it comes to towns.
While Longford town itself has a rate of 20 percent.
In Roscommon, research found the county vacancy rate to be 16.7 percent, finding Boyle to have the highest level of vacant buildings slightly ahead of Roscommon town at 22 percent
While Leitrim comes in just behind Roscommon at 16.9 percent, with Carrick on Shannon registering a vacancy rate of 17 percent.
15 counties have seen more spaces become vacant in the last year, with a total of over 29 thousand empty commercial units across the country.
