The residential vacancy rate was 11.8 percent in Leitrim Q4 of 2024 according to a new report by Geodirectory. The rate in Leitrim was considerably higher than the national average of 3.8 per cent. The vacancy rate in Roscommon was 10.3 per cent whilst it was 7.1 per cent in Longford.
Meanwhile, construction activity was weakest in Longford where only 85 buildings were under construction, followed by Leitrim with 121 and Roscommon having 162 under construction. Darragh Keogh from Geo Directory says having vacant buildings is not always a bad thing:
