A Carrick-on-Shannon GP says he's not surprised to hear speculation that Leitrim could face some restrictions as a result of Covid 19 rates.
The most recent data published today shows the 14-day incidence of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in Dublin is at 104, but Leitrim is third on the list with a rate of 81.8.
The rate in Roscommon is at 62.9 and in Longford it's at 51.4.
There have 26 cases of Covid reported since September 2nd in Leitrim, while there were 19 during the same time in Roscommon, and 21 in Longford.
Cavan has one of the lowest incidence rates in the country presently at 18.4 , and Monaghan is also low at 27.7 per 100,000.
Dr Jonathen Egan who works at Carrick Medical Centre says a lot of cases in the past couple of weeks appear to have come from a specific social gathering.
He says people in the area live in both Roscommon and Leitrim and that has allowed the rise in numbers to be partially hidden…
