A Longford resident is expressing deep concern after the man who attacked her with a knife four years ago sought to reduce his prison sentence.
Ruth Maxwell who's originally from Dublin, but living in Drumlish for a number of years , was attacked by a man as she walked to work in Dublin in 2016.
She suffered serious injuries to her hand after she grabbed the blade of a hunting knife which the man held at her throat during the attempted assault.
The man was jailed for 18 and a half years for the crime and it was discovered he had also attacked two other women in the same general area.
The man has now lodged an appeal against the severity of his sentence, and Ruth Maxwell says she's speaking out so as to help other women in this country who find themselves in a similar position.
