Roscommon Galway Fine Gael Senator Aisling Dolan is calling for the establishment of a Jobs Taskforce for Ballinasloe in light of potential job losses at the Aptar manufacturing plant.
The plant which has been in Ballinasloe for the past twenty years announced recently that it's considering moving the workforce in the east Galway premises to a site it owns in France.
The company says the reasons are linked to competitive market conditions and cost cutting.
Over 100 people are employed at the plant and Senator Aisling Dolan says the loss in a town the size of Ballinasloe would be very serious.
She wants a taskforce involving agencies like the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Local Enterprise Offices and business groups to find a way to secure jobs in the town.
