People living in and around the Frenchpark area are being encouraged to look at plans for the development of traffic lights and pedestrian crossings in the village.
The proposed works involve a four junction traffic light system in the middle of the village at the N5/R361 junction, and four crossings at the same location.
The location has been the scene of several collisions over the years and this Part 8 development by the local council aims to improve safety for all road users.
Local councillor Liam Callaghan is encouraging people to look at the plans and make their views known.
'They're on display in Aras an Chontae in Roscommon but they're also available on the County Council website. People have until the 26th of July to make their submissions then the part 8 planning will come to the Boyle MD meeting in September and hopefully any outlying issues will be resolved at that stage. We have to think of safety and people on a daily basis and what's the safest method and I think traffic lights will solve a lot of those problems.''
