Castlerea Railway Museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and is inviting locals to submit photos for an exhibition to commemorate it.
The photo exhibition will show the progress of the tourist attraction which houses the largest private collection of rail memorabilia in Ireland.
Hell’s Kitchen pub was originally part of the museum, where the late Sean Doherty gave a television interview that resulted in former Taoiseach Charlie Haughey resigning.
The photo display is scheduled to open in June, on the anniversary of the museum's A55 locomotive arriving into Castlerea town in 1998.
Museum curator Sean Browne says photos submitted by visitors will be entered into a prize draw and hopes the display will be seen as a community collaboration.
"We're going to celebrate the coming of the train 25 years ago on the 7th of July. It's being supported by Roscommon County Council and it means we're going to give a prize to someone who has the best photograph taken around that time or since then. The end of June would be the deadline. People love looking at photographs because they bring back the memories of that day.
