The Lock House in Clondra has been identified as one of the areas in the Shannonside village with good potential for future tourism development.
A survey was conducted this year to examine the potential for enhanced tourism facilities in villages like Clondra and Tarmonbarry.
The Western Reginal manager with Waterways Ireland Brian Tracey says the strategic location of the villages on the Shannon, and the Royal Canal makes them vital area for further development.
He says the survey involved a lot of consultation with the local communities, and in Clondra the Lock House came up for a lot of mention.
