Construction of the long awaited Longford Skate Park is due finish this week.
Design work was completed during the summer for the former Greyhound Track site, with the construction contracts signed in July.
The project has being brought forward by Browne Brothers Site Services and Vulcano Skate parks, a construction company specialising in the construction of skate infrastructure.
A campaign has been fought for the park for over ten years, led by local skaters, youth groups and Councillors, with Government funding of over €400,000 euro secured for the project earlier this year.
The Longford Skate Park Committee, formed by local skaters, has engaged with the Council as part of the delivery of the park.
The works at the well known site are being hailed as the first steps towards transforming the former Greyhound stadium into a major public amenity.
