There's widespread welcome in north Roscommon this week for the beginning of safety works at two dangerous junctions on the N4.
Machinery and other equipment was moved into place at the Cootehall and Croghan junctions in the last 24 hours to finally begin the long awaited improvements.
Local residents have been highlighting near-misses and accidents at the junctions over the past decade.
Final permission was only given for the necessary works to go ahead at the end of July this year.
Noel Mc Tiernan ,who led the campaign in recent years, says local people were very happy to see the arrival of the machinery yesterday.
