Long standing manager of Kilbeggan racecourse, Paddy Dunican, has died suddenly aged 61.
Mr Dunican was a well-known figure in the region, having managed the Westmeath based course for over 35 years.
Tributes to the racing stalwart continue to be posted this evening with one from Kilbeggan Shamrocks reading: "We were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Paddy Dunican this morning. Paddy was the face of Kilbeggan Races for many years and a great supporter of our club".
Another tribute says "if I mention that I’m from Kilbeggan, someone would inevitably ask if I knew Paddy Dunican… a very nice fellow to meet either at the races around the country or at some other social or community event… Rest in peace Paddy".
Funeral arrangements for the late Paddy Dunican will be announced at a later date.
