Longford and Leitrim falling behind e-waste recycling targets

The WEEE's annual report covers the twenty counties in which it operates.

An average of over 24kg of e-waste was recycled across the Shannonside region.
The figures were revealed from a recent Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment report.

Roscommon had the highest quantity of e-waste recycled, at an average of 10.4kg per person in the county last year.
That figure is followed by Longford, where an average of 9.2kg of e-waste was recycled per capita in 2023.
Leitrim had the lowest quantity of e-waste collected on average per person, at 4.75kg.
The figure in Roscommon exceeds the 9.51kg average collected last year, and is in line with its recycling targets.
Meanwhile, Leitrim and Longford are falling behind.
WEEE Ireland's CEO warns that we need to recycle more critical raw materials as Ireland's population grows, as well as our consumption of new appliances.
