A Longford Cystic Fibrosis campaigner is branding the lifting of mandatory mask-wearing today as insanity.
The latest relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions means face coverings are no longer a legal requirement in shops, on public transport or in schools.
However, Jillian McNulty believes it's too soon, particularly for those who are medically vulnerable.
The Longford woman who is waiting on a kidney transplant feels she must now restrict her movements in an effort to protect herself.
She's also worried about the backlash she might receive by wearing a face covering.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show Gillian urged the public to be conscious of people's reasons for using a mask:
"A lot of people will continue to wear them, healthy people, that aren't comfortable, which is great.
Everyone is entitled, if you don't want to wear a mask, then don't wear a mask, but also be very conscious of someone who is wearing a mask, why are they wearing a mask.
You don't know what anyone else is going through if they have members of a family vulnerable so if people want to wear masks, then great."
