A boil water notice affecting thousands of homes and companies in the Longford area is further adding to the pressures being experienced by local businesses.
17,000 premises across the county were put under a boil water advisory at the start of the month after the crypto-sporidium barrier at the Lough Forbes treatment plant was compromised.
The EPA will carry out an audit of the plant next week which will then be made available to Irish Water, the HSE and Longford County Council.
According to the Vice President of Longford Chamber of Commerce, having the boil notice lifted in early December will have a major benefit for the Christmas shopping season.
Fulton Grant says local business owners need to be kept in the loop.
