Longford charity 'Cian's Kennels' has been named as a finalist at this year's National Lottery's Good Causes Awards. Set up in 2020 in memory of 15 year old Cian Neary, the charity brings sick children closer to their pets at a specially built centre at Crumlin Hospital.
Each of the finalists will receive €1,000 and proceed to the grand final at Killashee House Hotel, Co. Kildare in October. The charity also announced they have been awarded a grant of €18,000 by the RTE Toy Show Appeal. They say that the grant will fund expansion of the services of the charity which include facilitating visits by therapy dogs to children and their families in hospitals and other care settings.
