Longford charity Cian's Kennels will launch a new mobile pet therapy service at Mullingar Hospital next month.
The national charity allows children undergoing long hospital stays to re-unite with their family pets at a purpose built centre on the grounds of Crumlin Children's Hospital.
The charity was set up in honour of Longford teen Cian Neary who passed away at 15 years of age.
The new mobile pet therapy unit will see a purpose built vehicle available to travel to different hospitals who do not have a pet therapy programme.
The unit will provide a safe and welcoming space for children and teens to interact with fully trained and certified therapy dogs.
Pet therapy has been proven to have a substantial number of physical and mental health benefits for children and adults alike.
