Longford Community Resources clg is to receive a significant share of a new 1 million euro fund designed to support projects addressing poverty, social exclusion and inequality.
The LCRL was one of seven applications selected from over 120 submissions to receive a piece of the one million euro fund.
The successful applicants under Community Development Pilot Programme 2021 were announced by Minister of State with the Department of Rural and Community Development in Longford today.
The Longford allocation will go towards the creation of a new independent and autonomous group to support the Roma community in Longford.
The project will see the creation of the group that will be run by the Roma community in order to give them a voice in the decision making process in local government, as well as providing the opportunity for the community to highlight the unique challenges they face.
