Longford council is to seek a special meeting with the executive of the ESB almost a year after the closure of the power station in Lanesboro.
The meeting is being sought as the result of a proposal by Independent Councillor Mark Casey who says he has serious concerns the company won't live up to commitments made to fund alternative local projects.
The Independent councillor was supported in his call for a delegation to meet with the ESB by Fine Gael councillor Gerard Farrell.
He described the Just Transition process so far as a disaster and a disgrace.
Longford council executive Paddy Mahon says he believes it's timely for the local representatives to make their views and disappointments known.
The council Chief says the next round of Just Transition is being shaped at present and it's important that Longford puts a stake in the ground over its right to be prioritised.
Councillor Casey says both the ESB and Bord Na Mona need to be held to their commitments.
