A Longford Councillor believes the greyhound stadium is not a suitable location for modular homes to house Ukrainian refugees.
It's understood the Office of Public Works has identified three potential sites in the town with a recent meeting of Longford County Council informed the greyhound site is the preferred option.
Councillor Gerry Warnock has raised concerns over the site due to its plans for a skatepark and cycle way which part eight planning was adopted for by councillors at yesterday's meeting.
While Councillor Warnock believes the country must provide refugee accommodation he says the location must be appropriate.
He also feels the construction of modular homes is not a temporary measure.
"The fear is that this is going to be housing through the backdoor on a key regeneration site that was absolutely key to our plans here in Longford Town. And for that reason, the practical reason, I am opposed to this particular site".
