Longford councillor Mick Cahill has highlighted the importance of support for local residents committees at the recent monthly meeting of the local authority.
The Fianna Fail councillor said he's conscious of the fact that these groups are suffering due to the effects of the Covid pandemic, in regard to the betterment of the estates.
He said he didn't want to see the hard work or community spirit of these groups being lost, or the great connections that had been built up with the housing section of the council.
The Fianna Fail councillor says he wants the council to provide a focus for the groups by having a plan to run the Better Estates competition next year.
