A Longford Councillor is hopeful that the local authority will fight to retain the Longford Greyhound stadium as a recreational space.
A price tag of €750,000 has been slapped on the track which closed earlier this year after the Irish Greyhound Board removed support and declining crowds resulted in financial issues.
The area is zoned as recreational and it would require a Council decision to re-zone the land if any developments such as housing were to be built at the 7.1 acre site.
Councillor Martin Monaghan doesn't think that will happen - no matter who buys the site.
