Longford councillor Paraic Brady has been elected as a senator.
The Fine Gael politician has won a seat on the agricultural panel in the Seanad elections.
There were 11 seats up for grabs and the Drumlish man finished in ninth place.

He has been a councillor since 2014 but a replacement will now be appointed for him, as senator can't be councillors also.
Fine Gael is likely to hold a selection convention to choose his successor on Longford County Council.
