The re-admission of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to Fianna Fail could be seen as a desperate measure from the political party.
Longford Councillor Gerry Warnock believes the move announced this week treads the line between desperation and genius.
The former Taoiseach resigned from the party back in 2012, in the wake of the Mahon Tribunal.

Over 10 years on, he's renewed his party-membership, and joined a local Fianna Fáil group in Dublin Central.
