Longford Councillors are expressing concerns over a new pilot programme that has replaced the local authority's Joint Policing Committee.
The Community Safety Partnership is a new pilot programme that is currently being trialled in Longford, Waterford and Dublin.
The partnerships are designed to bring together community representatives, business interests, councillors and State services such as Gardaí and the HSE, in order to devise and implement the Local Community Safety Plans.
At this week's meeting of Longford County Council, members voiced concerns over the limited membership of the committee for councillors. As it stands, just seven councillors can be nominated to the partnership leading to exchanges between local representatives at this week's meeting over the balanced spread of councillors by party.
