Local councillors are to call on the communications minister to intervene in the roll out of the national broadband plan in rural Longford.
At a recent meeting of Longford County Council, Councillor Paul Ross informed the chamber that the majority of the county is facing a wait of up to five years for connection to the national network.
Following a motion submitted by Councillor Ross this week, the local authority will now write to Minister Eamon Ryan to accelerate the rollout of rural broadband across the county.
According to National Broadband Ireland, the Covid pandemic has resulted in delays to works across the country.
