Longford County Council is to meet with the family of resettled refugees at the centre of a controversy over living conditions they're facing in local authority housing.
Two Syrian families in Granard have been highlighting serious issues over a lack of heating and ventilation within the two apartments they've been allocated by the Council.
One pregnant resident and her children reportedly spent a night in a car outside the property with the heat on due to fumes and cold in the apartment.
Council officials, representatives from the Respond Housing agency and the family will meet today via zoom to discuss the issue.
Nazar, a father of one of the families, says the storage heating in the apartments isn't adequate to heat the property and is resulting in significant electricity bills that they cannot afford.
He says the family have resorted to using kerosene heaters inside the house:
