Longford County Council has spent close to €55,000 on the upkeep of Connolly Barracks in the town over the last 7 years.
The former army barracks was vacated by the Defence Forces in 2009, with the facility returned to full council control in 2014/2015
The land is currently being used as a council run community space hosting local concerts, festivals and events.
The local authority has spent €54,681 over seven years on general upkeep and maintenance work, at an average of €5,000 each year.
Specific larger scale repair works have cost the council over €32,000 between 2015 and 2017.
The site had been earmarked as a possible location for a new civic centre for the town, with county councillors recently choosing another location for the project close by.
