Councillor Seamus Butler confirmed to Shannonside Northern Sound this week, that Longford County Council are currently in a joint procurement process for the machines.

The festival aims to broaden the appeal of community-based light and lantern art making around the county and grow Longford Lights each year.

The extension would incorporate a passenger lift and internal escape stairs.

Longford County Council planners granted permission for the development with 12 conditions attached.

The application had been lodged for the transformation of an existing public house on St. Mary's Street in Drumlish, into the mixed use development.

The zone is the most elevated stretch of road in County Longford and during the winter months it can be extremely treacherous.
