A Longford TD has hit out at Irish Rail after disruption to an early morning service to Dublin will now be extended until December 1st.
The company announced last month the temporary cancellation of the 05.38hrs Longford to Pearse and 18.15hrs Connolly to Longford service due to a signalling works.
It was expected the service would be restored by November 16th, but today Irish Rail has confirmed it will now not return to the schedule until December 1st.
Longford TD Joe Flaherty says he is very disappointed by the announcement and the news was only confirmed after a query was lodged with Irish Rail today.
He says Longford commuters are arriving at least an hour late to their work and now have to tell employers that this will continue for possibly another two weeks.
Irish Rail notes that that alternative services are operating at 06.15hrs and 06.49hrs from Longford in the morning, and at 17.10hrs, 17.17hrs and 19.15hrs from Dublin Connolly in the evening.
