The public are being warned about the dangers of lighting bonfires this Halloween
Longford County Council are reminding people that bonfires are illegal and stockpiles built up for the bonfires will be removed.
Gary Brady, environmental officer with Longford County Council, is warning people particularly about the dangers of burning tyres.
He says breathing in the particles is incredibly dangerous.
You're breathing this stuff into your lungs and of course your body recognises these particles as alien, so what does it do? It produces antibodies to fight it, the antibodies in case these particles and then when they can't destroy them or dispose of them out of the body, then the issue starts when toxins get into the body. So we're just asking people just to be cautious if you've got young kids. Why would you have them standing at a bonfire inhaling this stuff.
