A Longford farm business has been named as the Best Cookery School in the country.
Cloughan Farm and Cookery School near Abbesyshrule in South Longford took home the prestigious award at Irish Restaurant Awards last night in Dublin.
Run by Fiona Egan and her husband Michael, the farm and kitchen takes produce and meats grown or raised on site and uses them in the attached cookery school.
The awards saw other local success last night with My Kitchen by Sham, based at the Carrick-on-Shannon Retail Park, Cortober winning the Connacht title for Best World Cuisine.
The Oarsman in Carrick-on-Shannon also won the title of Best Gastropub in Connacht while The Cottage Restaurant based in Jamestown won the Best Emerging Irish Cuisine title for Connacht.
Speaking to Let's Talk, Fiona Egan says the award follows a huge amount of work over the last number of years:
'We are Longford born and bread for generations here and I am delighted for the whole of Longford and our community and our family and the recognition that it gives them, not us but it gives them and also then you know two of the wonderful food that is produced here and the unique experience and immersive experience that we are providing here.'
