Longford councillor Peggy Nolan says long delays in restoring power to Shannonside homes after Storm Eowyn are "unacceptable".
Around 100,000 homes and businesses around the country aren't likely to have their power back at least tomorrow week.
This includes vast areas of this region, including 636 customers near Ballinagare in Co Roscommon, who aren't expected to have their power back until February 3 at 9pm.
Councillor Nolan says the ESB should underground cables from now on - to ensure this isn't repeated.
She has been speaking to our reporter Eoghan Murphy about the damage caused by the storm on Friday morning.
