A local Garda and her colleague have been praised for their courageous actions at a house fire in Monaghan last weekend.
Garda Emma Dardis, a native of Longford, and Garda Anthony Todd, both attached to Castleblayney Garda Station, received a call to a house fire in Carrickmacross last Saturday
Upon arrival to the scene, they were advised that a person may be trapped inside the building.
Despite the fire and thick smoke, both Gardaí entered to secure the property.
After clearing the building, they discovered that thankfully no-one needed to be brought to safety and the fire was then brought under control by fire services.
Garda Dardis and Garda Todd were both treated for smoke inhalation in our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, kept overnight, and are now continuing their recovery at home.
They have both been praised for their courage and commitment by An Garda Síochána
