When last seen, Peter was wearing a blue knitted jumper, dark trousers and a dark baseball cap with a red peak.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone in the area who witnessed anything suspicious or who has home CCTV footage, to contact them at Longford Garda Station.

Gardaí were alerted to an incident at the Dún Darrach Housing Estate on the Dublin Road outside the town shortly after 3.40pm.

A man in his 30's was arrested at the scene.

The man was arrested and charged this afternoon and will appear at Longford District Court on the 1st of next month
