Longford Gardaí and County Council work to head off mass public gathering

Longford County Council and local Gardaí are currently in the process of heading off a mass public gathering on the outskirts of the town.

Responding to the construction of a large marquee at Michael Neary Park off the N5 Strokestown road yesterday, the local authority has been working with An Garda Siochana to prevent a gathering.

Longford County Council this morning secured a court order mandating the removal of the marquee that was reportedly set up to house an after-party of a wedding.

Notice has now been issued at the site and Gardaí are monitoring the situation.
