A motorist in Longford has been arrested following the discovery of a large amount of illegal drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop. Gardaí on routine patrol stopped the driver of the vehicle in the Kilashee Street area of the town. The motorist tested positive for cannabis following a road side oral fluids test. A follow-up search of the vehicle was conducted, where drugs were discovered concealed in the car.
Gardaí state the suspected cannabis was meant for sale in the area. The individual was arrested and brought to Longford Garda Station. This is the third significant drugs seizure this week by Longford Gardaí following the search of properties on Richmond street and a seperate traffic stop.
