Members of the public at risk from Covid-19 should take the AstraZeneca vaccine should they be offered it. That's according to a local GP who has been reacting to the recent concerns raised over possible side effects of the jab.
Dr Paul Trueick says that every medication or tablet on the market has a long list of rare symptoms, but are still considered safe for human use.
The European Medicines Agency has said blood clotting should be listed as a possible side effect, however stressed the benefits of the injection continues to outweigh the risk with only 200 cases of clotting reported out of approximately 34 million doses.
According to Dr Trueick, he expects to begin inoculating people with AstraZeneca shortly, once his medical practice finishes vaccinating the over 70s cohort with the Pfizer and Moderna jab.
