A Longford GP and President of Irish Medical Organisation has urged the public to have patience as the HSE work to adapt the national vaccine rollout.
Dr. Padraig McGarry says the HSE have been working non-stop since the decision to cease inoculation under 60s with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The vaccine rollout suffered the setback over concerns about rare blood clots with the Johnson and Johnson and AstraZeneca jabs.
Health experts are currently looking at a range of options from mixing vaccines that require two does, to delaying the weeks between second doses. Dr. McGarry says the decision on what to do next contains a huge amount of medical, legal and logistical considerations.
