GPs in Longford should not have to fill the gaps in the rollout of the vaccination programme in the county until the mass centre opens.
That's according to councillor Peggy Nolan following confirmation that the facility at the GAA centre in Newtownforbes will be operational from May 5th. Unlike other centres, it will only open from Monday to Friday and will deliver 4,000 jabs a week when at full capacity.
Councillor Nolan says that should be increased to a full seven days to bring the vaccination levels on par with other Midland counties where vaccination centres are already up and running.
She says that GPs who are only delivering the vaccines for the over 70s and most vulnerable shouldn't have to step in for other cohorts.
