Longford group calls on public to share their Covid experiences

The group argues that the experiences of those in nursing homes, hospitals, and care settings during COVID-19 have remained untold.

Local voices are joining calls for a People's Covid Inquiry to be held across the country. Care Champions Ireland was founded by Longford carer Majella Beattie and describes itself as a grassroots family advocacy group supporting both those in and providing care. The group argues that the experiences of those in nursing homes, hospitals, and care settings during COVID-19 have remained untold. They are urging carers, family members, health care staff and others to share their stories on the 31st of August. The details of Ireland's official Covid inquiry are set to be published by September with many stakeholders criticising the delay in its implementation.

Speaking in the Joe Finnegan Show, Majella says they are happy to work with the Government but are dedicated to holding their own inquiry. The Longford carer says that the stories that will be heard this Saturday will show the human cost of the Covid-19 pandemic:
