The Chairperson of Longford's Joint Policing Committee says the loss of a Superintendent position in the county is not unexpected.
Superintendent Seamus Boyle who is in charge of the Granard District will now also assume responsibility for the Longford division, following the retirement of Superintendent Jim Delaney.
Councillor Seamus Butler says while it is regrettable to see the loss of a high-ranking Garda officer in the county, it's not surprising given the re-organisation of the new garda operating model between Longford Roscommon and Mayo.
